The Opto-TOP
HE 3D white light scanning system uses
fringe projection technology to provide a fast and extensive capture
of complex surfaces. This approach allows the simultaneous
measurement of a large portion of the object in a single view. |
... |
 |
| |
Well over a million points can be captured in each image. Each of these
scans takes less than one second with the Breuckmann Opto-TOP
HE digitizing system. The equipment is
extremely portable and does not require the use of a mechanical
positioning device. |

The Opto-TOP
HE is designed to allow a quick change of lens objectives or the
carbon fiber tube which connects the patented Miniature Projection Technique
projector and the camera. This provides a flexible system capable of
measuring very small or very large objects. |

The standard
model ranges provide a Field of View that will measure a rectangular
patch from 30mm diagonal to 750mm diagonal length. Custom
models are produced that will provide a diagonal measurement of up to 2.5
meters in size. |
|
| |
Data from multiple views is combined using a surface match function.
High accuracy scans can be
created over large areas by combining white light scanning with
photogrammetry or laser tracker measurements. A fully integrated link is available to the
Aicon DPA-Pro system. Measured data can be easily transformed into a
reference coordinate system. Intelligent data reduction permits
extraction of feature lines and edges as well as calculation of
theoretical edges. |

What is the OptoTOP-HE
3D-Digitization System? |
|
|
| |
The OptoTOP-HE
3D-Digitization System is an extremely rapid 3D scanning system that
delivers high accuracy point cloud measurements. Over 1,000,000 points are acquired
in less than one second. The scanner field
of view has an image diagonal of between 25mm (1”) and 1.3 m (51”) and
the accuracy of the individual measured points is up to 0.015mm or
0.0005” depending on the system configuration. At the heart of the
TOP-HE 3D-Digitization System is the powerful, yet user friendly
and flexible, OPTOCAT data acquisition and analysis software suite
which, in addition to providing a complete range of metrology
functions, allows for the alignment of overlapping point clouds so
that the system can be used to measure large parts. |

Why invest in OptoTOP-HE? |
|
|
| |
The OptoTOP-HE
offers the following advantages over other surface data acquisition
systems:
 |
High
Quality Data. The system excels at providing high quality
data on a variety of surfaces and in challenging environments. |
 |
Speed. The patented Miniature
Projections Technique allows for rapid data acquisition
(over 1,000,000 points per second) |
 |
Accuracy. The
exceptional quality of the integrated digital camera and lens, the
projector and lens, the thermal stability of the carbon fiber
mechanical base bar, and the sophistication of system software
ensure the highest accuracies, up to 0.015 mm (0.0005”) depending
on system configuration. |
 |
Highly portable and very low weight.
The entire Opto TOP-HE system including measuring head,
supporting tripod, and controlling (laptop) computer may be easily
transported by a single user. The measuring head, consisting of the
camera and projector units and the carbon fiber sensor bar, weighs
less than 2.5 kilograms (6 pounds) which makes it light enough to be
supported on a portable photographic-type tripod.
|
 |
Minimal setup time. System
calibration, when required for the highest accuracy applications,
takes only a couple of minutes to perform. |
 |
Flexibility. Large parts, several tens
of feet long, can be measured by acquiring multiple overlapping
point clouds. These point clouds can be easily combined using the
powerful 3D-ALIGNMENT module of the OPTOCAT software. For large
parts or where the surface has few defining shape characteristics,
the OptoTOP-HE may be used in conjunction with the Aicon DPA
Pro photogrammetry system. Scanners may be combined with CMM's
or robots for automated solutions. |
 |
Highly configurable. All OptoTOP-HE
systems share the same camera, projector and lenses, but differ in
the length of the carbon fiber bar onto which the camera and
projector units mount, and for some units, the angle adaptors that
determine the triangulation angle of the system. Therefore, you may
have your system converted to make it suitable for measuring a
larger or smaller field of view if your needs change in the future.
A selection of lens objectives further enhances the ability to
customize the system |

What does the Opto TOP-HE system
consist of? |
|
|
| |
The OptoTOP-HE
consists of the following components:
 |
Digitizing Unit.
The light and portable measuring head comprises a high resolution
digital camera and a patented projection unit both equipped with
high quality lenses. These two units are mounted on either end of a
carbon fiber sensor bar. The sensor bar also contains a laser
positioning guide to define the center of the optimal measuring
depth of field. |
 |
Controlling Computer. The system is
configured with a laptop or desktop computer. The connection between
the measuring head and the computer is by means of a IEEE 1394 (FirewireŇ)
interface, which ensures rapid data throughput combined with
exceptional system stability. |
 |
Controlling Software. The OPTOCAT software
simplifies the collection and merging of data. Programmable function
keys and a powerful macro language ensure that it is also suitable
for demanding engineering analysis. |
|
|

High
accuracy inspection of contoured surfaces. |
| |
|
|
|
| |
What is Opto TOP-HE’s accuracy? |
|
|
| |
The accuracy
of the Opto TOP-HE system is up to 0.015 millimeter or 0.0005”
depending on system configuration. Generally accuracy decreases as the
size of the measuring footprint increases. For example, Model HE-50
with a measurement footprint diagonal field of view of 25 mm (2”)
provides the accuracy quoted above. Model HE-550 with a diagonal field
of view of 700 mm (27”) provides an accuracy of 0.050mm (0.002”). |
|
 |
| |
|
|
Non contact measurement of sensitive
objects and historical artifacts. |
| |
How does the Opto TOP-HE work? |
|
|
| |
The Opto
TOP-HE consists of a light projector and digital camera rigidly
attached to either end of a composite bar.
 |
|

Generate
files compatible with a variety of outputs including polygonized mesh
and STL. |
| |
The patented
Miniature Projection Technique (MPT) projects patterns of light onto
the part being measured in rapid sequence. The digital camera records
these patterns and the images are then processed by a combined Gray
Code/Phase shift technique to compute a dense cloud of three
dimensional coordinates for the surface of the part being measured.
The entire sequence is completed in a few seconds. |
